Social Housing Being Renovated in Mississauga

MISSISSAUGA, ONTARIO, March 18, 2011 — The Government of Canada and the Province of Ontario today announced more than $23.4 million for 84 projects to repair 9,076 existing social housing units in Mississauga through the Social Housing Renovation and Retrofit Program.

Bob Dechert, Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Justice and Member of Parliament for Mississauga – Erindale, on behalf of the Honourable Diane Finley, Minister of Human Resources and Skills Development and Minister Responsible for Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation (CMHC); and Amrit Mangat, Member of Provincial Parliament for Mississauga – Brampton South, on behalf of the Honourable Rick Bartolucci, Ontario’s Minister of Municipal Affairs and Housing; along with Eve Adams, Councillor Ward 5, City of Mississauga, made the announcement.

“Our government is proud to have contributed to Forum Italia and to the 83 other projects we’re announcing today here in the Mississauga area,” said MP Dechert. “Funding renovation projects like these ones will not only improve the quality of life for residents by keeping their homes safe and affordable, but it will benefit the economic and social well-being of the entire community.”
